Gaming platforms make up a significant portion of the online ecosystem, used by both the general public, and also abused by violent extremists. This presentation will review how violent extremists have used gaming-related platforms, communities, and imagery as components of online communications, recruitment, and propaganda dissemination.
Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this webinar, the attendee will:
1. Be able to recognize the difference between gaming and gaming-adjacent platforms, and how they have been abused by violent extremists
2. Have a baseline understanding of the iconography and lexicon that violent extremists have used in the online gaming environment.
3. Better understand the role that gaming related platforms have played in the overall violent extremist online ecosystem.
