This webinar will present the mission, organization, and functions of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s Intelligence and Security Services (Ministry of State Security–MSS); Ministry of Public Security–MPS); and the People’s Liberation Army–PLA) Intelligence) for domestic and global operations. We will present Influence Operations conducted by the CCP’s Central United Front Work Dept (UFWD) to achieve its strategic objectives by targeting: academic and cultural institutions; media and business organizations; religious, ethnic minorities and Chinese diaspora communities; policy communities; and international institutions. The lecture will provide real-world examples with emphasis on the traditional intelligence missions of: human, signals, and imagery; domestic and foreign counterintelligence; electronic warfare; space operations; and economic intelligence. Additionally, we will discuss the Integrated Information Warfare concept using the Three Warfares (Psychological, Public Opinion, and Legal Warfare), a unique Chinese political warfare model that calls for the coordinated use of psychological, public opinion, and legal warfare to control perceptions and shape narratives that advance Chinese interests and undermine those of an opponent.
