The recommendations are based on an analysis of the cybersecurity posture of a wide range of SMBs and governm ent organizations.\n\nAbout Our Speakers\n\nHarry Perper is a Principal Cy bersecurity Technologist at The MITRE Corporation. In his role Harry contr ibutes his expertise to multiple projects including technology research an d critical infrastructure cybersecurity guidance. Harry led teams at the N IST National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence\, creating reference archi tectures and example implementations for the energy and financial sectors. He has also led teams evaluating a range of cybersecurity technologies. H e is a frequent speaker at cybersecurity events\, including RSAC\, GridSec Con\, ProtectOurPower\, and FS-ISAC.  Prior to joining MITRE\, Harry work ed in the telecommunications industry in various capacities including oper ations\, engineering\, and marketing.  MITRE operates 7 federally funded research and development centers (FFRDC). MITRE’s support to the FFRDC s ponsors includes systems engineering\, cybersecurity solution recommendati ons\, acquisition planning\, and independent test and evaluation expertise .  Education: Electrical Engineering\, MSEE\, George Washington Universi ty\; /  BSEE\, University of Maryland\n\n \;\n\n\n\nPhyllis Lee is th e Senior Director of Controls at the Center for Internet Security (CIS). S he has over 25 years of experience in information assurance and has perfor med vulnerability assessments\, virtualization research and worked in secu rity automation. Prior to joining CIS\, Lee worked at the National Securit y Agency (NSA) focusing on the intersection between malware and virtualiza tion\, which included collaboration with MIT Lincoln Labs. Lee also partic ipated in a variety of security automation standardization efforts and led the security automation strategy for the NSA Information Assurance Direct orate (IAD). She graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Master of Science in Computer Science.\n\n \;\n\n\n\nLawrence has over 25 years of Information Technology (IT) experience in some of the most sensitive co mpartmentalized\, classified\, and regulated enterprise businesses. Seeing the huge operational and security gaps which exist between enterprise and mid-market companies\, he evolved and has focused much of his career in t his space. He’s built and run a successful regional as a Managed IT Serv ices Provider (“MSP”) that serves mid-market and enterprise organizati ons alike. As an experienced cybersecurity practitioner\, Lawrence has des igned and implemented hundreds of cybersecurity programs incorporating key control frameworks including NIST Cyber Security Framework and CIS Contro ls (20 CSC). While an Electrical Engineer and Physicist by training\, he f ound the application of scientific principles had a place within the field of IT.\n\nHe founded Corporate Information Technologies (www.corp-infotec h.com)\, a security-centric managed technology firm. While very committed to delivering exceptional outcomes using technology\, Lawrence’s passion is in stopping the attack and exploitation of Small Businesses by cybercr iminals. His efforts in this area are reflected in his contributions in th e numerous publications\, media appearances\, speaking engagements\, and c o-authorships of technical standards. Lawrence literally helped write the book on how Managed Services Providers (MSPs) should secure both their own and their customer’s technology systems. He has been a featured present er at numerous conferences including the RSA Conference\, ISSA Internation al Summits\, and numerous industry-specific events in the manufacturing\, financial\, and banking sectors.\n\nLawrence is committed to helping devel op the next generation of technologists and engineers. In 2010\, he founde d a program teaching middle school students the basics of computer system engineering and design. That program evolved and now teaches the next gene ration of “White Hat” hackers – middle school students at McClintock Middle School. Because of these achievements and continued commitments to his local community\, in 2017\, the Charlotte Business Journal recognized Lawrence as one of Charlotte\, NC’s 40 under 40 most influential busine ss leaders.
