The Assessing Risk and Developing Mitigation Strategies course will provide executives and practitioners with practical advice for mitigating risks. You will learn how to synthesize the information gathered during the risk assessment process and how to use it to develop mitigation strategies.  This course is intended to help students reduce or eliminate risk by applying mitigation strategies where needed relative to a hazard’s probability and/or consequence.

What you will learn
Upon completion of this eLearning course you will be able to:

• Describe how threat, vulnerability, consequence, and Risk inform mitigation strategies
• Identify the types of mitigation strategies that can help to reduce risk
• Implement the process of developing mitigation strategies appropriate for the risk level of your critical infrastructure

Program format
The course was developed by risk mitigation experts and is a self-paced eLearning program and is estimated to take approximately 8 hours to complete. However, some learners may work at a faster or slower pace, so the actual duration may vary. A background in IT or cybersecurity is unnecessary to succeed in this course.
NOTE TO STUDENTS: If you have not taken NISRU courses PRM-101 Assessment of Threats and Hazards, PRM-102 Determining Vulnerabilities, and PRM-103 Assessing Consequences and Calculating Risk, PRM-104 assumes you have some prior knowledge or work experience in assessing threats and hazards, determining vulnerabilities, and assessing consequences and calculating risk.
