deral Case Out of It\n\nCamelia Lopez has served as an Assistant United St
ates Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas in Plano since 2009. She i
s a Deputy Criminal Chief and Attorney-in-Charge of the Plano office\, whi
le also serving as the district coordinator and lead attorney for Computer
Hacking and Intellectual Property matters. She is also the district’s N
ational Security Cyber Specialist and manages a full docket of cases invol
 ving identity cyber intrusion\, fraud\, money laundering\, export control\
, and terrorism. For her work in a case involving international drug distr
ibution\, Camelia was awarded with the Director’s Award\, the highest ho
nor an AUSA can receive from the Department of Justice for excellence in p
 rosecution.\n\nPrior to joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office\, Camelia was
an Assistant District Attorney for Dallas County for 6 years prosecuting
white-collar crimes. She received her Juris Doctor from American Universit
 y’s Washington College of Law\, Washington\, DC\, in 2002\, and graduate
d from SMU in 1999 with a BBA in Finance and minors in Economics and Latin
American Studies.\n\nCamelia is a frequent speaker on topics relating to
cybercrime response and enforcement.\n\nThe idiom “don’t make a federa
l case out of it” is popular because people understand that federal case
s are typically reserved for the most important issues – and what is mor
e important to a business than information security? Businesses today depe
nd on the integrity of their computer networks to communicate\, strategize
\, and develop their assets. Our economy – and our national security –
are threatened when hackers exploit vulnerabilities in the networks. This
presentation is intended to demystify the process of how and why federal
cases are developed\, and how the private sector can proactively work with
federal law enforcement to minimize damage to themselves\, deter and capt
ure perpetrators\, and protect themselves moving forward.\n\nRegistration
